Senior Scientist/Scientist, Cambridge, UK
A new opportunity for a Senior Scientist/ Scientist to join an enthusiastic and forward thinking Biomarker Discovery Team has opened with an epigenetics company based in Cambridge UK.
You will be an expert in the subject matter of next generation sequencing (NGS) and have a background in Biology and automation of DNA extraction. You will have the opportunity to be part of team developing clinical-grade epigenetic assays for a new generation of cancer diagnostics.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in high throughput lab workflow automation and a good understanding of process development in a regulated environment. Good working knowledge of molecular biology, next generation sequencing and epigenetics would be an advantage.
This role will include being involved in projects spanning across different areas of work such as DNA extraction, assay measurements and sequencing pipelines and using different types of automation platforms. You will be flexible and keen to support the platforms’ development while championing quality in all aspects of your work.

*Work closely with equipment users to develop & optimise assay protocols on the high throughput automation platforms, ensuring optimal efficiency & performance
*Lead equipment breakdown deep-dive activities to identify the underlying cause, with the objective of mitigating its re occurrence
*Develop bespoke support solutions built around the requirements of DNA extraction, assay measurements and sequencing pipelines
*Develop and implement a performance qualification regime for automation platforms at CEGX to aid with the rapid determination of whether the root cause of an issue is either hardware or software related
*Establish & maintain strong relationships with automation vendor application specialists
*Maintain awareness of new developments in the field of Laboratory Automation
*Develop Introductory Equipment Training Packages intended for both the internal users and customers
*Install, test and validate new automation systems
*Ensure that validated systems are maintained in compliance with the Quality System
*Establish efficient interfaces between automated instruments to enable user friendly workflows
*Design and optimise automation workflows to ensure they are compatible with test reagents and meet scientific needs and user requirements
*Enable data transfer and traceability between automation platforms and LIMS (or similar) systems
*Write SOPs, risk assessments, and work instructions
*Work across departments and proactively engage in knowledge sharing and peer support, including training of laboratory technicians and scientists
*Champion H&S and quality compliance within the team
