Principal Scientist – Computational Biology – Germany
This position offers the successful candidate a great opportunity to play a part in the expansion of one of the top global pharmaceutical companies.
As a Principal Scientist they will liaise in a pro-active manner with Therapeutic Area Scientists and devise solutions to their scientific questions using cutting-edge computational biology approaches.
It will be their task to ensure prioritisation, triaging and tracking of computational biology projects and tasks in support of new therapeutic concept.
As part of being in a proactive role, they are expected to engage in the development of strategies, proposing computational biology approaches, projects, external collaborations that can enhance and have a concrete impact on the strategy.
Additionally, they will act as an ambassador also for other technologies in Target Discovery Research (TDR) (e. g. from the target validation technologies group), promoting all TDR technologies and identifying/proposing questions that could be addressed through integrated use of TDR technologies within and beyond computational biology.
Furthermore, they will ensure that the overall computational biology strategy is at the cutting edge of innovation in the field, while ensuring concrete impact, by piloting novel approaches in well defined scientific areas of need.
-3 – 6 years PhD experience in computational biology, including at least 2 – 4 years of team leadership and project leadership experience.
-Strong expertise in utilising computational biology to advance scientific projects.
-Expertise in designing projects and experiments to solve biomedical questions.
-Expertise in managing collaborative projects with multiple partners.
-Strong capacity to assess the scientific validity and importance of the output of a broad range of bioinformatics tools and resources.
-Broad knowledge of biological and pharmacological processes.
-Good international network in the computational biology community.
