Senior Laboratory Coordinator- Edinburgh – 18 month FTC
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Lab Coordinator to join a leading company based in Edinburgh. Their pioneering technology has the potential to drive advancements in the cell and gene therapy fields. Over the last 18 months the company have enjoyed a significant period of growth and have moved into new state-of-the-art laboratories, so it is an ideal time to be joining the team.
As the Lab Coordinator you will join the Biology Team and you will be responsible for lab maintenance and operations.
*Responsible for resolving issues, promoting best practice, internal training and maintaining the BioRegistry.
*Maintains laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards, developing assays, and troubleshooting. Certifying instrument performance, arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.
*Maintains laboratory supplies.
*Take primary responsibility for the operations and development of group laboratories, including service strategy of existing equipment, e.g. equipment testing, repair, maintenance, and supply of consumable items from lab stores.
*Train and support new users of lab equipment.
*Advise on the layout of the laboratory areas and/or equipment, informing costing of maintenance and associated items where new initiatives are involved.
*Create/maintain chemical, solvent and consumables stock lists.
*Maintain an up-to-date record of equipment maintenance and servicing.
*The post will also involve contributing towards active research when required.
*Ensure all work done in the lab complies with the applicable regulations concerning biohazards, human tissue use, disposal of biological waste, and animal use, and maintain documentation.
*Ensuring appropriate levels of documentation, record keeping and procedures.
*Effectively manage own time/workload to meet project deliverables with minimal oversight.
*Coordination and shipping of samples to customers as well as for sequencing.
*Degree in relevant subject area
*Familiarity with data and databases management platforms/LIMS
*Experience in lab supervision in a scientific or biomedical environment
*Experience in general microbiological and cell culture aseptic working techniques (desirable) or a background in life sciences research
*Working in a GLP environment
*Experience in H&S, COSHH and Risk Assessments
*Experience in writing SOPs and training staff
