Business Development Manager- Home based – England (50% travel to Europe)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join an innovative and rapidly expanding biotechnology company based in the UK. As an organisation they offer services and technologies that support the international bio therapeutics market. They have enjoyed a significant period of expansion and hold exciting long standing partnerships with industry leaders so it’s an ideal time to join the team.
This is a home-based role with 50% travel to Southern Europe, the successful candidate must reside in the UK. Ideally you will be near a major airport in the South of the UK but there is some flexibility.
Reporting into the VP of Global Business Development your main responsibility will be to build customer relationships (both industry and academia) and promote technologies/services/products within Europe. The technologies are cutting edge so the role will suit a candidate with a firm understanding of mammalian cell biology.
*Ensure that the quarterly and annual sales targets are achieved for the assigned territory within your territory.
*Develop a detailed strategic plan to manage your territory and grow your business for both short and long-term revenue growth
*Follow-up on leads and customer requests completely and in a timely fashion
*Secure targeted meetings to identify and advance opportunities with your customers
*Identify and map the key stakeholders and decision makers around projects and opportunities in your territory
*Create and deliver presentations to customers
*Manage forecasting and pipeline by utilising the CRM to manage, track, and report on all sales activities for your territory
*Work collaboratively with all business partners (customer service, technical service, marketing and project management, etc.) to handle customer requests
Minimum BSc/MSc in life sciences subject
Minimum of 5 years’ business development and sales experience within the life sciences industry
Previous laboratory experience would be ideal
Experience in gene therapy, proteins, gene editing, mammalian expression, virology either in a sales or research capacity
Experience with European travel and selling to customers in Europe/ or additional EU language
Experience developing and executing strategic business plans
Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and through presentations
Being able to deal with ambiguity (ability to deliver on services or products that are in development or early stages of the pipeline)
