Analytical Development Scientist – Antibodies – Reading
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Analytical Development Scientist to join an international biopharmaceutical company who are opening a brand new state-of-the-art manufacturing process development facility in Reading. As an organisation they are entering into a significant period of growth and investment to support the next phase of development for their innovative R&D pipeline.
The main responsibility of the role is to perform a wide range of routine analytical tests in support of upstream and downstream process development, to assist with the initial establishment of the methods and technology transfer of the methods within and outside the organisation. The role is predominantly lab based and as the laboratory is newly established, there will be some involvement in supporting the setup of lab systems and procedures, equipment commissioning, preparing documentation and cross training in cell culture, bioreactor, and purification procedures to support the broader team.
* Support the technology transfer, establishment and routine operation of a wide range of inprocess analytical methods for antibody products, related impurities and contaminations
*Analytical techniques and systems include:
-UPLC/HPLC (IgG concentration, aggregation/fragment and charge variant analysis),
-ELISA (PnA ligand, HCP)
-Bioburden, pH, conductivity, A280, osmolarity
-SDS-Page (Reduced, Non-Reduced) and densitometry
-Cell counts and viability, metabolite and dissolved gas analysis
*Perform data analysis and interpretation, delivering internal, external presentations and
preparing assay results and reports suitable for GLP/GMP use and CMC submissions.
*Prepare other GLP/GMP documentation to support above activities, including SOPs, URSs, raw material/in-process specifications.
*General housekeeping, stock taking, ordering, laboratory cleaning, reagent/buffer prep.
* Bsc/MSc in Biological or Bio-Engineering discipline with 2 + years of industry related
experience in therapeutic antibody process development.
* Experience performing analytical methods in a regulated (GLP/GMP) environment.
* Practical experience operating & maintaining some of UPLC, ceSDS, ceIEF, gel based
SDS/IEF, densitometers, plate readers, PCR systems and performing/analysing results
from associated analytical methods for antibodies.
* Ability to handle and resolve scientific and technical issues and a proven team worker.
