This is a great opportunity for a talented and driven data expert to join a global computational biology and digital sciences team looking to turn data into insights for the discovery and evaluation of new therapeutic concepts in Discovery Research.
You'd be joining one of the global top 20 Pharma company's who are currently creating an innovative data science group within our Discovery Research area aimed at using external healthcare datasets to transform how we discover and develop new medicines within the organisation.
If successful you will play a crucial part in developing and implementing data workflows. Contributing to the goal of integrating large external multimodal healthcare datasets into a secure data foundation to identify novel biological mechanisms in disease.
Embedded in the growing Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences Unit you will have an impact on reinventing R&D, thereby actively contributing to the discovery of breakthrough therapies that will increase human health.
Tasks & Responsibilities
*As a Senior Data Steward, you provide leadership in the development, execution and implementation of our data-driven innovation strategy ensuring long-term value of data assets according to FAIR principles.
*You manage the implementation of a data foundation in close collaboration with IT-teams and business subject matter experts.
*By engaging with external owners of large healthcare datasets, you define, curate and ingest data into a data foundation.
*Whilst building cross-functional linking and alignment of data concepts, vocabularies and taxonomies you ensure a seamless connection of data from different domains.
*By coordinating and leading domain-specific data stewardship activities, you ensure adherence to overarching data governance guidelines and principles (e.g. alignment of terminologies).
*In addition to the tasks above, you manage and facilitate access to relevant data with internal groups.
*PhD in biology, chemistry, pharmacy bioinformatics, information sciences or a related field. Alternatively completed Master studies with several years of professional experience
*Extensive experience in multidisciplinary and international environments as well as proven expertise in leading digital & large data projects with several team members
*In-depth understanding of data domains that are relevant for pre-clinical and clinical drug discovery and development, including Real-world evidence.
*Experience and understanding of data integration and management concepts such as semantic data integration, data modelling (e.g. with ontologies and taxonomies), knowledge graphs & FAIR principles
*Familiarity with Semantic Web technologies such as RDF, SPARQL, OWL, SKOS as well as Knowledge concerning IT data infrastructure concepts like data lake, data warehouses or graph data bases
*A track record of handling, ingesting & cleansing data from multiple large external datasets as well as excellent communication, moderation and intercultural skills as paired with the ability to convince an audience of a desired strategy
