Scientific Data Engineer
Paramount Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading player in the drug discovery field who are looking to recruit a Scientific Data Engineer to contribute to the design, implementation and roll-out of an informatics solution. The aim of the project is to allow for better data integration, and support current and future needs for data analysis, mining and consumption for our client's Drug Discovery and Development scientists and their research partners.
This company have been established for almost 30 years and has leading scientists, state-of-the-art technologies as well as key therapeutic expertise in neuroscience, immunology, metabolic diseases, oncology and infectious diseases. The company intends to develop best-in-class and first-in-class differentiated therapeutics and has long standing relationships with many of the world's top 20 pharmaceutical companies. They operate worldwide but have their HQ in Europe along with more than 5 offices and 3000 employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Contribute to data architecture for cross-domain data integration
*Improve data modelling, harmonisation, standardisation, contextualisation, annotations in the context of the implemented solution
*Contribute to data standards, metadata and ontologies cross Drug Discovery and Development domains (chemistry, biology, DMPK, omics, pre-clinical & clinical data)
*Implement data curation, cleansing and quality control processes as part of the solution
*Contribute to establish a new data governance and support model for the new platform implemented by the project, to ensure continued focus on data quality, traceability and evolution of the platform itself
Experience and attributes:
*Degree in a relevant discipline, such as Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science or Engineering
*Application of good data management, data integration and data governance practices
*Direct usage of relational and non-relational databases
*Definition and setup of Master Data Management, Data Standards / Semantic, Ontologies. Application of FAIR data principles.
*Knowledge in statistics and data analytics
*Experience with development and scripting languages
*Experience with data visualisation tools
*Experience with big data streaming technologies would be a plus
*Coding in scripting languages (python, R, perl)
*Experience working with Life Sciences data would be a big advantage but is not essential
