Senior Bioinformatician- Oxford
This is a great opportunity to join a diagnostics company who specialist in the detection of early stage cancers.
The role will be placed in their Research and Development team to drive the creation of new methods for the analysis and interpretation of next-generations sequencing (NGS) data. Working with a highly skilled team, at the interface of chemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics and software, you will create and establish tools and methods to enable the analysis of DNA sequence and methylation data in support of their R&D projects and clinical studies.
Some of the main responsibilities will include:
*Develop and refine novel methodologies and algorithms for DNA methylation and sequence analysis using NGS data.
*Establish robust data processing pipelines for clinical grade assays
*Provide technical guidance in the design and analysis of experiments during all phases of development
*Produce high-quality written documentation of methods, algorithms, plans, and findings
*Keep up to date with the developing literature for the analysis of methylation data using high throughput sequencing technologies
*Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures
Skills/ Qualifications (essential):
*PhD in Bioinformatics, statistical genetics, or related field
*Experience in academia or industry related to bioinformatics
*Experience analysing NGS data
*Demonstrated proficiency in Python coding
*Demonstrated understanding of method development in the high throughput sequencing analysis space
*Strong bioinformatics understanding to include the standards, data sources, and tool chains used in NGS and clinical genomics
*Experience using public cloud services.
*Experience in building code using CI/CD.
*Experience in applied DNA sequence analysis, or directly comparable field, to include analysis of DNA methylation by sequencing.
*Experience developing diagnostics products in the genomics industry.
*Experience of DNA sequence analysis in cancer.
