Senior Data Scientist – Statistics

This is a great opportunity to join a biotech company in Cambridgeshire who are working on world class microbiome research. This company is a global leader in gut bacterial culturing and this is an amazing opportunity to work with some of the most advanced tools available. The company’s unique platform addressed fundamental barriers in microbiome genomics, mass gut bacterial isolation and identification of therapeutic bacteria.
They are seeking an experienced Bioinformatician / Statistician to join their established team in Cambridge. You will be involved in the development of methods for statistical association in collaboration with University Hospitals and large research institutes and provide bioinformatics and data analysis support for translational biology and preclinical teams.
Some of your duties will include:
- Analyse association of large-scale biological datasets (metagenomics and transcriptomics) with clinical metadata
- Identify, develop and implement new analytical, statistical and machine-learning methods to improve and extend their informatics platform
- Provide statistical input into study designs and analysis plans for complex datasets including clinical trials
- Provide analytical and statistical support across the company
Ideally you will have:
- PhD in Data science, Statistics or related discipline
- Experience in similar role in industry or academia
- Proficiency in a high-level programming language- python, R, Go
- Familiarity with Linux command-line environment
- Experienced in Biostatistics / Statistical methodologies
- Knowledge of machine learning methods
- Clinical experience in microbial metagenomics
